New Slicer features for improved availability and reliability
In 2020 more viewers turned to streaming services for their information and entertainment. We released these new Slicer features to enable you to increase your streaming workflow availability and reliability so you can keep up with all the demand and deliver a great viewer experience.
- Managed Slicer Service: Handoff your video signal to a fully managed Slicer in a data center colocation PoP, or in the cloud, eliminating the need to purchase, provision, manage and maintain on-premise equipment.
- Slicer Failover: Configure standby Slicers in Active/Active or Hot/Hot failover groups to ensure a highly available and fault-tolerant ingest workflow.
- Slicer Monitoring Service: This real-time monitoring system is built to detect and alert when there are issues with content upload and ingest so you can deliver a high-quality streaming experience.
Monetize your service with these innovations
To monetize your streaming service, you need to expand your reach, deliver a high-quality ad experience, and maximize ad yields. These innovations help you reach your monetization goals.

Ad Profile Matching
When ads and content are encoded differently, it can disrupt the viewing experience. To overcome playback issues caused by mismatched video and audio quality, we’ve introduced Ad Profile Matching. This capability automatically matches the encoding profiles of ads and programs to guarantee broadcast-quality streams and ensure consistent quality as viewers transition between ad breaks and content. Ad Profile Matching is automatically activated for all customers using Smartplay.
Smartplay Prebid
Smartplay Prebid enhances our server-side ad insertion capability. Prebid technology disrupts the traditional method of buying and selling ads to drive up ad yield. Smartplay customers using Prebid fully understand the value of their content because Prebid puts price transparency, visibility and control back into content owners’ hands, not behind walled gardens. This new solution comes with turnkey Prebid server integrations making it easy to get started. Reach out to your account manager or schedule time to walk through the solution now.

Plus, we now support Extended Validation (EV) certificates, representing the highest standard of trust. This is in addition to the Domain Validation (DV) and Organization Validation (OV) certificates we launched earlier this year as part of the Certificate Provisioning Service (CPS).
