P.P.S. Narayan (also known as PPSN) is Chief Technology Officer Video at Verizon Digital Media Services, with more than 15 years of experience in software engineering and large-scale systems building.

Prior to joining the team at Verizon Digital Media Services, PPSN held key engineering leadership positions at Yahoo. There, he built much of Yahoo Cloud Services and Platforms while responsible for structured and unstructured storage, user data, user profile, pub-sub messaging, elastic compute, serving and edge.

PPSN previously spent 10 years at Bell Labs Research where his passion for building high-throughput real-time systems led him to a position on the DataBlitz Main-memory DB team, where he designed features like replication, XML mapping and cache-aware query processing. As a team leader, he led network management, network discovery and video-streaming quality research. After moving into a more entrepreneurial role, PPSN led the engineering effort of a location-based geo-fencing venture in which he built differentiated algorithms and techniques to enable scalable and efficient push LBS.
PPSN holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, and a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. PPSN has also co-authored multiple publications in prestigious database conferences and holds patents and patent-applications in the areas of databases, network management, distributed systems and geo-fencing.
